Miss St. Mascot Questionable for Tenn. Match Up
AUBURN, AL – Mississippi State’s beloved bulldog, Bully, took a devastating shot from Auburn running back, JaTarvious Whitlow during Saturday’s matchup between the two teams. Whitlow pancaked the astonished bulldog on a thunderous touchdown run that sent him barreling out the back of the end zone. The 14 inch, 50 pound Bully stood no chance against the 210 pound Auburn bruiser. Having been to all of Miss State’s games this season, Bully should have known the safest place to hangout would have been whichever end zone the Bulldogs were trying to score in. What’s worse, the poor dog did not even see it coming. Bully was distracted at the time by an Auburn student section that was teasing him with hotdogs.
The dog was immediately escorted to the medical tent after the play. Despite the hit, the injury prognosis looked positive. The mascot’s tail wagged continuously as he jogged off the field unaided. While Miss State fans anxiously waited for an update on Bully, they praised the bulldog’s toughness.
“That’s wut cowbell footbaw is all about.” – Daryl Higgins, 32
“Bully took that punch right on the cheek and, bless his soul, didn’t even blink.” – Sally Linda Lu, 19
“That’s one tough sonabitch, hehe.” – ‘Dogfish’ Jenkins, ?
Bully was later seen warming up on the Miss St. sidelines. The animal appeared sluggish and struggled to breathe as he jogged along the edge of the stadium. However, that is normal bulldog behavior. After passing concussion protocol, the bulldog was cleared to resume full mascoting activities. Bully is listed as questionable for next week’s game as the Miss State staff continues to monitor his condition.
