Jalen Ramsey’s Mom Calls Him in Sick
JACKSONVILLE, FL — Jalen Ramsey was scratched from Monday’s practice due to a bout of the flu. The timing of Ramsey’s “illness” comes across as suspicious to those within the Jaguars organization. His sickness comes less than a week after the cornerback demanded a trade out of Jacksonville. Even more suspicious was the phone call that informed the coaching staff of his situation. Jalen’s mother called the front office Sunday evening to notify the team of her son’s status. She claimed that Jalen had been resting all day and was in “no shape to practice football tomorrow.” Mrs. Ramsey assured the Jaguars she was taking good care of her son and that he would go straight to the doctor’s office first thing in the morning. At this point in the call, sources claim they could hear several feeble coughs in the background accompanied by a series of muffled giggles.
When a Jaguars staffer told Jalen’s mother she could just bring him to the team doctor for an examination, Mrs. Ramsey became flustered and said, “Oh that won’t be necessary. I’ll take him to an old family doctor that Jalen has been seeing since he was a baby. Besides, you wouldn’t want my boy to bring the flu to the practice facility.”
Jalen’s Xbox Live account went online shortly after his mother’s phone call. He told his teammates via voice chat that he “couldn’t sleep” because he was “too stuffed up” despite the fact that he did not sound congested at all. Ramsey then proceeded to play four hours of Gears of War 5.
The next day, Mrs. Ramsey emailed a scanned doctor’s note to Jacksonville’s practice facility. A doctor by the name of “Whalen Jamsley” signed off on a prescription for Tamiflu. The doctor also advised Jalen to “rest, drink plenty of fluids, and cease all football related activities indefinitely.” The only person registered under the name of “Whalen Jamsley” is a 63-year-old magician for hire that performs at children’s parties in Tampa. The handwriting on the note also appears as if it were written by Ramsey’s left hand.
It is unclear what Ramsey’s status will be for the Jaguars is going forward.
