SHOCK: Bounty Gate Participant Defends Bounty Gate Architect
ESPN commentator, Jonathan Vilma, disputed claims made by Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. that Gregg Williams encouraged dirty hits on him during a preseason game while he was with the Giants. One of those hits resulted in a high ankle sprain that ultimately sidelined the wide receiver for the majority of the 2017 season. In his statement, OBJ voiced concerns about his livelihood as a match-up with Williams’ Jets looms on the horizon.
Vilma brushed aside the Cleveland star’s comments by claiming there was no validity to them. He then went on to praise his former coach by saying, “I was with Gregg Williams for three years, one of the best defensive coordinators I had. And he teaches physicality. He teaches aggression.”
Hmmmm. Where have I heard the names Jonathan Vilma and Gregg Williams used before? I seem to recall them both being heavily involved in a series of famous injuries to the lower extremities of talented players. What a funny coincidence. In the aftermath of the Bountygate scandal, Jonathan Vilma was found to not only be an enthusiastic participant of the bone crushing New Orleans defense, but also a chief financial incentivizer! Yes, the enterprising Vilma threw some of his own money into the reward pool. In fact, He was the only Saints player singled out by the NFL during their investigation.
I am sure that Gregg Williams evangelizes outdated and cliché dogma that his simpleton defensive players consider tough guy gospel. Commandments from the Book of Williams:
“Snitches get stitches, and stars get scars.”
“Only pussies see the dentist.”
“Targeting is an ‘effort’ play.”
And who could forget the golden rule: “Nothing is illegal at the bottom of a pile.”
Williams is the coaching equivalent of Old Maid and only the worst teams in the NFL are playing. Someone always gets stuck with him. Besides the Saints, Williams has coached for the Titans (twice), Bills, Redskins, Jaguars, Rams, Browns, and the Jets. What a fiery shit-dumpster of teams. And the fact that these Oscar the Grouch, trash colonists fight over Williams like he’s the last can of cat food is outright bizarre. He is one of two defensive coordinators to EVER preside over a winless season. The other defensive coordinator is Joe Barry, who was DC for the Lions during their infamous 2008 season. I don’t see Barry’s name resurface every time a bottom-5 team has a coaching vacancy.
Williams hasn’t been to the playoffs in over a decade. His defenses fold like papier mâché under a firehose and his schemes are so poorly designed they perplex even the most casual football fans. How Gregg Williams is still employed as a defensive coordinator in the National Football League is a mystery. He has not only demonstrated his incompetence as a defensive coordinator, but also his willingness to engage in unscrupulous practices that violate the integrity of football. The league that has supplied America with organized violence for 100 years told Gregg Williams his headhunting operation was too distasteful for viewers. The NFL, the same organization that has repeatedly lied to its players about the harmful, long term effects of playing professional football and the same league that then metaphorically stiff-armed these players when it came time for a settlement, suspended Gregg Williams for a year for morally bankrupt behavior. Let that sink in. I would love to see the size of the spider that wove the web of irony I am trapped in.
All in all, lapdog Jonathan Vilma is eternally grateful to Gregg Williams for Saints Super Bowl win, despite the asterisk that accompanies their “win” over Minnesota. Williams definitely tried and succeeded in hurting OBJ during the preseason because that’s just the kind of guy he has proven himself to be. And Vilma has been brainwashed to believe that targeting opposing players is just ‘tuff footbaw.’ I bet he would suck Williams’s toes on command.
