UPDATE: Movers On Stand-By Outside Kawhi’s House

TORONTO, CA – It has been reported that a number of U-Haul moving vans have been idly parked outside of Kawhi Leonard’s Toronto residence since the playoff series began with the Milwaukee Bucks. The vans remain in standby protocol as the Raptors continue their march through the playoffs. Leonard has informed his people to, “just wait and see where this goes.” If the Raptors had lost to the Bucks, then Kawhi had requested his belongings packed by the time he got home from the stadium. Leonard wanted his unceremonious exit to make “the Browns ditching Cleveland look like it was in slow-motion.”

However, the Raptors resilience has earned the franchise their first Finals berth. Toronto is currently tied 1-1 with Golden State, as they enter a two-game road stretch in Oakland. Kawhi’s impending summer free agency has been a big topic of speculation in NBA circles. The All-star forward has previously expressed a desire to play in Los Angeles, near his childhood home in Riverside. It would appear that the Clippers are the leading candidate to sign Leonard. The organization’s robust front office and young talent is enticing, especially when compared to their cross-town neighbors’ dysfunction.

Kawhi was recently asked by reporters if he would consider signing with the Lakers. The notoriously reserved star reportedly responded, “Fuck no.” His agent added “They got people in their front office pointing threatening finger guns at each other. Not like Sheriff Wood finger guns, but like ‘I want to kill you’ finger guns. Kawhi doesn’t want any part of LeBron James and Jeanie Buss’s circus.” It is unclear whether winning the Finals would keep Kawhi in Toronto, however it is clear the All-star is exploring all available options (except the Lakers). The consensus is that Toronto has no chance of keeping Kawhi unless they to win the series. However, even if the Raptors win an NBA championship, Leonard might elect to sign elsewhere. This is an ongoing story and will be updated as the series unfolds.

6/14/19 UPDATE: After Toronto secured their first NBA championship, the moving vans outside of Kawhi Leonard’s house vacated the premises. Could this be an indication that Leonard has decided on staying in Toronto for good? Or is this just the NBA star recognizing that he will need bigger vans to haul away all his possessions? More to come…

7/11/19 UPDATE: Well that escalated quickly. The Clippers announced they have officially signed Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. And the movers wasted no time. In a matter of twenty minutes, all of Kawhi’s possessions were loaded onto trucks speeding for Los Angeles. All that remains of the movers is a semi-circle of crushed beer cans and dead grass from where their Yeti coolers lay.

The dumpsters behind Leonard’s house were mostly filled with Raptors memorabilia and gift baskets from thankful fans. However, a few items stood out amidst the sea of collectibles: a key to the city of Toronto, a signed picture of a nearly naked Drake that read “Got me in my feelings, Kawhi -XOXO Drake” and a 15×8 minimalist mural of the phrase “Board Man Gets Paid.”
